Austin ISD has 124 schools (elementary, middle, and high school). The schools teach different languages, such as Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, American Sign Language, and even more. The student population of Austin ISD has grown by 6% over the past few years.
Since Austin ISD is such a large district, the schools are spread out over all different areas in Austin. From East Austin to Central Austin, there will be more than one Austin ISD school. There are always a variety of unique homes for sale close to Austin ISD schools.

As far as TAKS scores go, Austin ISD has 99% of schools pass the TAKS of 2009-10 school year with also 95% of schools meeting the Adequate Yearly Progress standard. Also, 62% of Austin ISD schools were rated “Exemplary” and “Recognized,” and seven out of eight schools that were previously rated “Academically Unacceptable” actually came off the list.

The district also has a list of goals to meet each school year, including focusing on students performing at or above the grade level, prepare students for college and life in general, and more.
